v0.1 Update

Here we go. v0.1 of Epigenesis is up and ready to go! It's been awhile, huh? Not just between updates, but since this project started. Honestly, the fact that I've been working on this for over a year kinda astounds me. The game is nowhere near done, of course, but it's definitely playable. This is one major update, so I can't list all of the changes here, but here are some of the highlights:

  • Massive balance changes to many classes based on playtesting feedback.
  • Additional mechanics to make Support classes feel more useful.
  • Drive has been renamed to Genesis (GEN). This is partly to tie more into the theme, and partly because Drive was a placeholder term that I hated. There are setting reasons for why this term is used that will be elaborated on in future setting updates.
  • Duelist, Witch, and Summoner (formerly Marshall) have been added into the game!
    • Duelist is a striker class that focuses on focusing down a single enemy at a time by designating them as a Rival. This gives them additional effects and actions they can use against said Rival, but at the cost of being worse at dealing with multiple enemies at a time.
    • Witch is a support class that is all about bestowing Installs unto their teammates and enemies. These Installs are already potent in and of themselves, but a Witch can push their luck to augment their Installs even further, but if they lose that gamble bad things happen. Will you play it safe or will you risk it?
    • Summoner is a zoning pet class that controls two characters on the battlefield at once. This gives them more actions that other classes, but with no boost in GEN to compensate, so the summoner and summon must ration their GEN cautiously. Summoners aren't very effective without their summon, so try not to treat them as disposable.
  • Crew Perks have been properly added into the game. Specifically, Gear, Hideout Upgrades, and Contacts.
  • Updated the Character Sheet.
  • Subclasses have been added to the game.
  • The PDF now has bookmarks!
  • And more!

Additional setting information will be available soon, though due to the current length of the document those will probably be bundled separately. Also, while I wished to have included the higher tiers of each class, I am currently unsatisfied with what I have and decided that, given how much I have already included in this update (and the time that it would take to sort that out), it would be best to publish now so as to not hold everything up.

Once again, thanks to everyone who has helped me with this project! I hope that the next major update can fully flesh out the system. For now, though, I plan the next few updates to focus more on formatting and cosmetic changes, as well as incorporating lore and, hopefully, art. Feel free to leave any comments if you have them!
